About the Course

This course is part of the ‘Synology Intensive Training’ programme. This course provides you with a comprehensive introduction to the backup tools available on your Synology NAS. By successfully passing the online certification test after the training, you will earn the official ‘Synology Backup Architect’ certification.

After a brief introduction to the key backup fundamentals, we will work on how to back up and restore the data stored on a Synology NAS. You will get to know possible methods, backup destinations, backup plans, and other configuration options in detail. We will cover the packages Snapshot Replication, Hyper Backup, USB Copy, as well as the features and use cases of Synology C2 Storage. In the next section, we will focus on backing up physical PCs (Windows, macOS), physical servers (Windows / Linux), as well as virtual machines running on VMware or Hyper-V. You will also learn about advanced recovery options. Finally, you will discover how to efficiently back up and restore data from Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace using Active Backup for Microsoft 365 and Active Backup for Google Workspace.

How does the whole thing work?

This is a hands-on training with plenty of practical exercises conducted directly on the actual devices. During the live session, you will have remote access to a fully featured virtual desktop, from which you can connect to our hardware lab. This allows you to easily follow along with our demonstrations and hands-on exercises. For more extensive exercises, we will split into small teams, where you can collaborate via desktop sharing, observe each other’s work, and support one another. These sessions also provide a great opportunity to exchange knowledge with other business users and Synology partners. Of course, your trainer will be available throughout the entire live session to assist you whenever needed. .

Notes on the certification exam

Certification: The exam can be taken online immediately after the event. You will have several days to complete it. Our trainers will explain the procedure and requirements in detail. All training materials may be used. Upon passing the exam, you can download your certificate immediately. Additionally, you will receive access to a logo that you can use to showcase your certification, e.g., in email signatures or on social media.
Recertification Please note that the certificate typically has a limited validity, meaning you will need to undergo recertification at regular intervals (e.g., after two years). To facilitate this, we offer compact workshops where you will be informed about the most important updates. Further details about certification and the partner program can be obtained directly from the manufacturer.
